Child Find

Project Child Find is a New Jersey program designed to ensure that all students have appropriate access to the services they may need to reach developmental milestones. Project Child Find can be reached toll-free at 1-800-322-8174. If you are a resident of Stone Harbor or Avalon and have any concerns about your child's development, please use the information below to find guidance and help.

Infants and Toddlers (Birth to Three): If you are concerned about your infant or toddler's development, please contact Cape May County's Early Intervention Special Child Health Services. Their website and phone numbers are listed below. If a developmental evaluation is indicated, the service coordinator will work with you to schedule a multidisciplinary evaluation of your child’s development levels and needs. This evaluation service is provided at no cost to parents. If appropriate, certain early intervention services may be recommended.

Preschool Children (Ages three to five): If you are concerned about your preschool child's is development, please contact Mari Coskey at Avalon Elementary School at 609-967-7544 (this applies to Stone Harbor residents also). A meeting will be arranged with you to discuss your concerns and to decide if an evaluation is necessary. If a developmental evaluation is indicated, we will work with you to schedule a multidisciplinary evaluation of your child’s development levels and needs. This evaluation service is provided at no cost to parents. If appropriate, certain early intervention services may be recommended.

School-Age Students (Ages 5-21): If you are concerned that your school-age child's development, please contact Mari Coskey at Avalon Elementary School at 609-967-7544 (this applies to Stone Harbor residents also). A meeting will be arranged with you to discuss your concerns and to decide if an evaluation is necessary. You also have the right to request a child study team evaluation for consideration of special education and related services.
